Winter Whites: Golden Globes 2016 Round Up

I love awards season! Okay, I love the red carpet! It’s true, I turn over the channel once the red carpet is over, what do you expect from ME? Last night was the Golden Globes – did you catch it? I was owing and aweing throughout the entire event! My favorite theme of the night was winter whites.

Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Dark lips, casual hair and minimal accessories made for a killer look that these ladies rocked!

You don’t have to be attending a celebrity awards show to own the look this winter. Incorporate a few white accessories or throw it all together! There doesn’t have to be rules for this look:

Tulle for the Holidays

Keep it fun & feminine this holiday season by incorporating tulle in your holiday celebrations! Pair a midi tulle skirt with a sparkly crop top from H&M or a long sleeve bodysuit from American Apparel. Rock red lips, simple hair, and finish the look with a classic nude or black pump.

Both tulle skirts are from genuine-people.com and are on sale for a cool $31!

Happy Holidays!

Winter Coats & Accessories

We spent Thanksgiving in Denver and it was our first experience of snow this winter season! This was also J’s first time in Denver – I think he fell in love with the mountains. We stayed in downtown and walked everywhere so naturally I had to go shopping for cute winter apparel!

I picked up a neutral pom beanie from Express. It’s on sale now for 40% off! It’s not only sparkly and adorable, but also very warm! (click photo for link).

Online Shopping: Avoiding the Big Box Stores

There’s something special about receiving a package on your doorstep (even when you placed the order, paid extra for 2-day deliver, and tracked it). I haven’t always been a fan of online shopping, probably because I look for the instant gratification of making a purchase and having that brand new, shiny object in my hands. As I get older, I have found less time available to in-store shop and am becoming increasingly less impressed with what I see in stores. Like many of you, I too have turned to online shopping for my fix. Sharing a few of my favorites; ones you may never heard of, but if you give them a try, they’ll become your new go-to sites!

Shop Hopes

Make sure to follow them on Instagram, they share new arrivals and ask for opinions on what they’re considering bringing to the shop!

Modern Ego

You’ll definitely get the boutique feel when you shop Modern Ego! Check out my tab here on the blog for a few of my favorites!

FOI Clothing

They have a killer Instagram that will make you shop ’til you drop! I recently purchased their Sequin Leggings in Black which will be on the blog in the coming weeks!  They also have really great blanket scarves, perfect for the upcoming chilly weather!

Mindy Mae’s Market

This site is adorable for so many reasons! In love with the News tab and cute, simple tutorials. Loving this sequin top for holiday season!

If you’ve ever looked around Etsy, you may have come across some winning stores. I wanted to share a new up and coming shop run by a friend: Poshishh. If you like 90s clothing, you’ll love what her site is becoming! Right now, she has some fantastic winter coats – stop by & let me know what you think!

A few of my other favorite Etsy shops worth taking a look at: Illumminee, for great street style/ off runway looks, YL1dress, fantastic options for military-inspired jackets, & megzfashion,  her shop is just cute in general (this girl knows how to style!).

I love supporting boutiques & small business owners! It’s the best way to jazz up your closet with unique pieces!

Doing Black Friday: The Right Way!

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again! If you’re one of the crazies (like me) who LOVES Black Friday shopping, the excitement it starting to build! From early mornings to long lines, coffee breaks to bathroom breaks, Black Friday shopping can be very stressful! Here is a list I’ve complied over the years to make the most out of your shopping experience!

  • Wear layers. At some stores, you may be waiting outside while others you’ll be packed inside like sardines. I don’t know about you, but when I don’t plan for the elements, I get pretty cranky!
  • Bring an empty medium to large sized plastic shopping bag with you. Keep it in your purse and use when you need to remove a layer of clothing or consolidate small-bagged purchases.
  • Don’t forget to eat. Either eat at home or dedicate some time to stand in food lines. Don’t put yourself at risk to faint in Bath & Body Works and miss out on all the fantastic sales!
  • Have a plan. About a week before Black Friday, I start cruising through the sales ads, looking for holiday gifts and those special items I’ve been eyeing for months but didn’t bring myself to paying full price. Make a list, paying close attention to time restrictions and map out your path of destruction.
  • Go with family and/or friends. Remember, it’s just shopping. Have fun with it and spend time with the people you love! There’s no better way to kill time in the check out line than conversing and laughing with pals!
  • Set a budget. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the Christmas songs and sales signs. Don’t let yourself overspend and regret it later!
  • Caffeine & Water. Energize and hydrate! It’s going to be a long day!

May the deals be in your favor!

Happy Shopping!

The Comeback: Turtlenecks

As a 90s baby, I rocked turtle necks all through the winter. However, as the 2000s came around, I deemed turtle necks to be uncool and told myself I’d never wear them again. Well, like everything in fashion, trends return and I am back on my cozy, warm neck kick. My ootd s’ports a grey cotton turtle neck from Premise Studio [retails at $58, purchased at TJ Maxx for $24].

Emerald Green and brown booties – Outfit of the Day

I love being slightly dressed up rather than uber casual on a daily basis. From running errands, a casual day at the office to lunch with friends.. you can’t go wrong with this look. Though I am tall, I embrace my inner-ALMOST-amazon woman self and rock heels on the usual. In the winter time, I find it only fitting to finish off my look with a great pair of booties. I’ve recently added a new pair to my collect and took them out for a spin this past weekend. These are so cute with their classic details, low heel (very ideal for the snowy weather) and I found them super friendly on the bank account :).
